Choosing a patch type is the first decision in any order, and it shapes how your design looks, how long it lasts and what it costs.
Embroidered patches
Thick polyester thread is stitched onto a twill base, giving a raised, textured finish. Embroidery is the classic look for uniforms, caps and jackets. It works best for bold logos with clear shapes; very small text can lose definition.
Woven patches
Woven patches use much finer thread on a loom, so they hold small lettering and fine detail that embroidery can't. The finish is flat and smooth.
PVC patches
PVC patches are moulded from soft rubber. They're fully waterproof, keep their colour outdoors and survive mud, sweat and heavy wear.
Quick rule of thumb
- Classic, textured look on clothing: embroidered
- Tiny text or fine detail: woven
- Outdoor, wet or rugged use: PVC
